Thank you very much for visiting my page, I hope you find it enjoyable and useful. My name is Jordi Ibern Novell, I am a Reiki teacher and a therapist. I was born in a small town called Granyena de les Garrigues, in Lleida, and I have been living in Barcelona since 2004.
I discovered Reiki in 2002 when a friend of mine recommended it to me. I took several courses of first level, second level and third level of Reiki. Finally, in 2004, I completed the master level of Traditional Usui Reiki with my teacher Julia Costa. As I wanted to deepen my understanding and practice of Reiki, I learned Tibetan Reiki with Ernest Guirao, Karuna Reiki with Gabriel di Luca and Jikiden Reiki with Tadao Yamaguchi; I also learned The Original Japanese Reiki Techniques with Arjava Frank Petter.
Reiki sparked my interest in meditation and spiritual practices. I traveled to India first, and then to Japan in order to deepen my understanding and discover the birth place of Reiki on Mount Kurama (Kyoto), and to visit the Buddhist temple in Tokyo where the burial place of the founder of Reiki Ryoho, Usui Sensei is. I received training in the theoretical and philosophical part of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Biotherapy Sfera in the Czech Republic with Vladimir Dourina, CEO of Diochi. In 2010, I made my first immersion in mindfulness with the Zen Buddhist monks and Thich Nhat Hanh in France. Mindfulness, meditation and yoga have become, since then, essential to my Reiki path (Reiki Do). In 2012, I began my studies of psychology at the UNED to complement my training as a therapist.
I started teaching Reiki in Barcelona and working as a therapist in 2005. I have given courses of Reiki in Spain, France, Finland, Morocco, The Netherlands, Japan and Lebanon, countries where I have also worked as a therapist. I also collaborated with several talented Yoga teachers. We started with Jose de Groot, a Yoga teacher specialized in Yin Yoga, the first combination of Yin Yoga & Reiki. We organized monthly workshops in Barcelona uniting both practices. Shortly after, we provided those same workshops in other countries such as France, Finland and the Netherlands; we also offered Yin Yoga & Reiki retreats in Spain.
Furthermore, I have offered Reiki and Yoga courses as well as retreats in Paris and Barcelona together with Mariona Royo, a yoga teacher from Barcelona, and in Lebanon, Italy and Spain with Yasmine Sinno, a yoga teacher from Beirut.
Beside Yoga and Reiki workshops, I organized retreats and long weekends of Reiki and meditation, as well as theoretical workshops of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
In 2006, some fellow Reiki friends and I founded Voluntarios Reiki, a nonprofit organization which aimed to bring Reiki to most disadvantaged groups of people and those at risk of social exclusion. I chaired the organization until May 2013. During nearly seven years, we performed over 7000 Reiki sessions in several Spanish areas.
Currently, I teach Reiki in Barcelona and in other several cities, mainly in Spain, but also in other countries. The course format is usually an intensive weekend, but I also offer regular classes on weekdays in Barcelona and in San Cugat del Valles. In addition, I give customized classes for people who prefer to do Reiki training individually.
As a therapist, I work on a regular basis in Barcelona, Sant Cugat del Vallès and Lleida, and occasionally in other cities.
We organize, together with Yasmine Sinno, several Reiki and Yoga retreats throughout the year, as well as Yin Yoga & Reiki retreats with Jose de Groot.
Reiki is my work, but also my practice and my passion. The benefits that Reiki has brought into my life are uncountable; I do not conceive my life without Reiki. I love getting up early, meditate, practice yoga and do my Reiki self-treatment.
Providing Reiki therapies/treatments and teaching are also my passions. My aim is to make Reiki and meditation become standard practice in the lives of my students. My motivation in both courses and therapies is that people who come into my life feel better, healthier and happier after Reiki experience. It also motivates me to provide them tools to face the challenges of life.
